What A Hoppy Easter We Had!

We had such a lovely time spent with the family over Easter and so I thought I'd share some of our highlights. The first highlight has to be the fun we had in the garden during our Easter egg hunt.

Happily the children were in a sharing mood regarding the delicious chocs!

We were sent some great Easter inspiration from Waitrose that really tuned into the imagination of everyone and the actual Easter game was such fun to play. We tweaked it a bit to make the questions a little harder for any older ones joining in and a certain little chap seemed to come out with a stash full of eggs and chocolate prizes. In fact we still have eggs from Easter so the game is being re-enacted even after Easter. 

After all that chocolate eating, a good walk was required and so we made uses of some special beach time togetherness, which, with the lovely weather we had was just lovely.

 

 Miss. Poppins couldn't resist seeing what was out at sea.

With the perfect weather for some great views, a definite highlight for the children was to take a slightly different mode of transport. As for (chicken) me, I stood with my feet firmly on the ground, and walking was my preferred mode of transport.  

The blossom was out in bloom!

Castles were visited.

And on sunny days we just really enjoyed cups of tea in the garden and some rest and relaxation.

The Easter break was swiftly coming to end, and it was soon back to it, school uniforms to get ready, routines to get back into and lots of spring cleaning to get done. We are in the midst of a rather big spring clean, and in fact I have been rather proud of the de-cluttering I have accomplished. Much of my sentimentality has been forgotten and taken over for the need of space, clean lines and sometimes the 'clutter' can in fact for me have a suffocating effect and in turn prove to be a negative. So, its out with the old and hopefully not too much of in with the new. 

 I'm even attempting to sort through my Cath Kidston stash....the pretties that were given as prezzies are definitely staying, but everything else is going to be sold to make a little pocket money. Now for me, who is the queen of hoarding pretty things, that is quite a move!

Easter Inspiration

Well I have seem to have lost my blogging/painting/crafting mojo of late and I desperately wanted a little crafty project to inspire me to find it again. I love celebrations and Easter is no exception, I so enjoy spending quality time with family and friends over the holidays. Its been rather stressful eventful here in the Poppins household these last months or so, so am just relishing that we can now look back and wave all that goodbye and we can look forward. Miss. Poppins is off to secondary school this year and already I am feeling a little emotional, I can't wait for her to spread her wings, to be challenged and grasp any wonderful opportunities that may come her way. She'll always be my ickle girl, and I have a great yearning to want to hold her so tight and not let her go. Think we need a little practice run or two, as she shall be travelling a little way on a train, (though hopefully with some friends too) and crossing those big, big roads all on her own. She'll be fine, I'll be fine :)

Anyway, back to Easter, I took a little walk around the countryside and I found the perfect twiggy branches for my Easter project. I knew I could work a little 'Poppins Magic' on my own twiggy-tree. So after grabbing some paint, and glitter I think the twigs looked looked much prettier.  

  I wanted to leave a tiny bit of the natural wood bare, to give it a nice white wash appearance. Next for some pretty eggs. Poundland came up trumps with some great little sparkly ones from their super Easter range. I couldn't resist the little baskets too and picked up some great Easter treats. Chocolate eggs, Easter bonnet craft making kits, lovely decorative shred in pink and green, some Easter cards and an Easter balloon! 

  Oh so sparkly. 

I couldn't wait to get them all on my twiggy Easter tree.

It's the first thing people see when they walk into my home, so I hope it has a cheery effect, and I do think looks rather pretty :)

I cant wait to hand out these little egg boxes to family and friends over Easter, I hope they share their little eggs ;) I love doing an Easter egg hunt with the children and they always have fun.

Thoughts At Easter

Of course they would be happy with just an egg, but I love to pop a little extra treat or two in their Easter bags. Being a savvy bargain hunter I don't spend too much, and I know Master Poppins shall loves his £3.50 ( George at Asda ) Ben10 dressing gown that I found in the sale, and only £5 for Miss Poppins' pretty summer dress ( George at Asda) The Hannah Montana gift bags were only 29p ( Home Bargains ) hopefully Master Popps won't mind too much ;)

As well as popping little notepads and activity books in which shall keep them busy little bees, I have written special little poems for them to let them know how much I love them and can't wait to see their little faces. We told them that we hoped they didn't mind too much, but the shops had all sold out of Easter eggs this year and that unfortunately they shall have to do without. I am so proud of them, they just said "Oh well, never mind, hopefully we shall get one next year". Luckily my family understand and *get* my sense of humour and we shall all have a little giggle when they are handed their little bags on Easter sunday....

 I am feeling a little low at the moment, very thoughtful and spiritually a little wobbly on my feet. I have lost my confidence in life somewhat, although outwardly I may come across as a confident and vivacious individual, inside am feeling quite fragile I guess. I know that confident person is in there, but I think she has decided to have a little holiday, I do hope she comes back one day. It is coming to that time of year where thoughts of Joshua come to the forefront of our minds, he would have been 7 this year and as always I miss him dearly. Of course life goes on, and I am so thankful he came into my life for such a very short time....Having him has taught me so many positive things, like gratitude, love and caring towards others. I am not perfect and sometimes say things in the heat of the moment before I think but generally I do my very best to be kind and gracious to others. You really don't know what trials people are dealing with in life that they perhaps keep hidden to themselves. I do try to take heed of this quote....

So, I just wanted to wish you a very happy and fun-filled Easter, may you be spending it with the ones you love and don't eat all those eggs at once ;)
