New Flavours From Heinz....

I am one for trying out lots of things, especially when it comes to food. So when Heinz asked me to be one of the first taste testers of their new Salad Cream with Onion & Chives, I couldn't wait to give it a whirl. Firstly they arranged for a little delivery of ingredients so I could try out some of their new recipes which incorporate the new onion & chives  flavoured salad cream....

I wanted to try out their Heinz Pasta Salad and as the preparation time is only 10 minutes and cooking time 10 minutes, I thought a perfect little dish to start with. My little Poppins' wanted to help, to so we gathered our ingredients....

400g Penne Pasta
125g Mozzarella
150g Cherry tomatoes ( cut in half )
20g Rocket leaves
15g Basil leaves ( torn )
50g Pitted black olives ( roughly chopped )
1/2 Red onion ( finely chopped )
4 tbsp Heinz salad cream with onion & chives

1. Cook the pasta according to the pasta instructions
2. In a large bowl mix together the mozzarella, tomatoes, rocket, basil, olives, red onions and the Heinz salad cream with onion & chives.
3. Drain the pasta and toss together with all the other ingredients, season well and serve warm.

Easy peasy, and as we had some pasta that needed eating we decided to use that. To be honest Miss Poppins did most of the preparation and cooking and I just supervised. I think she did really well....

And what did we indeed think of the new Heinz Salad Cream Onion & Chives flavour? Lovely, really zingy and certainly a flavour that would work so well in many dishes. I think it helps if you are a fan of salad cream already as we are, and the children have already asked for a little of it in their school sandwiches. Alongside the launch, Heinz are offering their fans on Facebook the opportunity to create their ' Ultimate Sandwich' using the new flavour. All sandwich makers will be in with a chance to win one of 10 bottles everyday and be one of the first to try this new variety before it even hits the shops this spring. Also 6 sandwiches will be selected to go on sale at five popular fan locations at the end of March. for more inspiration you can visit the Heinz website from March onwards and browse other lovely recipes on offer, including Chicken and Cheese Ciabattes, Mediterranean Tarts, and which all include the new variety of salad cream. Yum....

Also I have to say a little thanks to Heinz as I think they may have heard about my upcoming Bathroom Makeover Challenge  ( with the big reveal taking place on the 9th March ) A little parcel arrived with a pretty bow and everything. And in it was this very Indian-inspired looking tomato ketchup. Perhaps a little support from Heinz for my Indian themed bathroom? Heinz are only producing 1 million and 57 bottles of this limited edition, with top restaurants, chefs and VIP Food lovers in and around the U.K. being the recipients of the first 57 bottles. Once sold out, Heinz has no plans to continue producing the range....

The new Heinz Tomato Ketchup blended with Indian Spices contains a tantalising mix of cumin, coriander and cinnamon whilst still maintaining the much loved sun-ripened tomato flavour and as usual with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. The bottle isnt't available in any retail suppliers until 5th March and you can have a chance to win or buy a bottle through their Facebook  page. I myself have had a go at the puzzle on there, but have to say I think I was very slow ;) Right, I better indeed get on with creating my Indian themed bathroom, I am very behind and shall have to really put in a big effort to get it finished by the 9th. Eeeek, wish me luck guys.....
